Come and get it! Thanks to Coax I have whipped together a script that will create a Smileys List config file automatically from a SQL DB Backup of your options table (or whole WP DB). Enjoy!

Get it here … http://blog.lmbbox.com/wp-content/files/lmbbox-smileys-config-creator.zip

You will need to upload this to your site or if you have PHP installed, you could run it locally. Make sure to edit the scripts configs at the top. You need to tell it what your table prefix is, which Smileys List to work with, and where the SQL file is. The created config file is saved in the same folder the script is in and if it can’t write the file, it will display it for you to copy and paste into a new file.

So I’ve been working on updating my plugins to use the WordPress 2.0 features and be compatible too. I’m Currently working on my LMB^Box Comment Quicktags plugin which adds a Quicktags Toolbar to your Comment Area. As I was working on fixing and adding code, it hit me … why not create a plugin that would allow you to choose if to use a Quicktags Toolbar [OR] a WYSIWYG Editor (seeing that WP2 comes with a WYSIWYG Editor now). So I’ve been trying to work this out so that everything works smoothly, but I’m running into some issues. This is the first time that I’ve worked with TinyMCE Editor and I’m kind of playing catch-up … Right now I’m not too worried about TinyMCE’s config or settings, just how I’m to add it to the Comment Area’s textarea.

I think what I’m going to do right now is release an update for LMB^Box Comment Quicktags that just fixes problems and adds compatiblity for WP2. Anyway when I do get the WYSIWYG Editor side done and working, I’ll be renaming this plugin to LMB^Box Comment Editor seeing how as the plugin will be able to use either Quicktags Toolbar or WYSIWYG Editor, plus I’ll add a Comment Preview feature if you’re using the Quicktags Toolbar. I should have the updated plugin release by the end of today!

I’m going to hold off on releasing an update for my LMB^Box Smileys plugin since I’m planning to add more functionality to the Comment Quicktags plugin. With the next release of LMB^Box Smileys, a button will be add to the WYSIWYG Editor if you’re using it in both the Admin Write Page and Comment Form Area. Or you could always just add the link/button yourself …

I have a few other ideas for plugins to develop and I hope to start working on them soon. And of course, to continue to develop my LMB^Box FilePress system. Lets see where all this leads, shall we?

It’s definetely been a long time since I’ve posted anything. I’ve been extremely busy the last few weeks with my new consulting tech position. After this week though, I should have some more extra time on my hands to take care of a few things that are in desperate need! LMB^Box Comment Quicktags and LMB^Box Smileys both need to be updated to function smoothly with WordPress 2 that was released on the 26th of Dec.

LMB^Box Comment Quicktags doesn’t really have much to change, just need to make sure that there are not any new plugin hooks that would be better to have the plugin hook into or if there are any changes that will affect the plugin. Also since WP2 comes complete with WYSIWYG Editor, I may write a new plugin that will add an WYSIWYG Editor to the comment form!

LMB^Box Smileys on the other hand, needs alot of work and thought put into it! First of all, the new WYSIWYG Editor of WP2 will remove the Quicktags Toolbar on the Admin Write Page so that the current Smileys version will not even put a button on the Admin side of things unless you’re not using the WYSIWYG Editor! So I need to make a check for what the user uses and input code as needed depended on the user’s choice. Also with the WYSIWYG Editor, it now would be possiable to see the Smiley in the post as you write it instead of just a Smileys Tag! But this means that the Smileys image html code will be put directly into the post and not just a Smiley Tag! I’ll need to find out which way users like better and see which one works better!

Now of course I need to keep working on my LMB^Box FilePress system, plus I’m looking to rename the script since I’ll be releasing it as a standalone system! And to top it all off, I have many need ideas for plugins and community addons that I believe would help the end users. Be on the look out for a system that will allow you to download the WordPress Codex as an pdf file, either in certain parts that you need or as a whole! A language translator will be on the way shortly also, allowing you to have your posts / site ruffly translated into other languages for your readers! Do you have alot of comments on a page or post (check out my plugin pages and you’ll see what I mean)? If so you’ll love this next plugin that I’ll be working on … Comment Pages! It will pagenate the comments so that you don’t have long load times for huge amounts of comments.

Now it’s time for me to be off … I hope you like some if not all of these ideas. Please feel free to leave me any comments here about what I’m working on.

Ok … FINIALLY I’m proud to announce that the next release of LMB^Box FilePress is here! After a terrible incident, I was able to recover / rewrite what was lost and continue on developing FilePress to what it is now. The layout / control page is completely redesigned from the previous release and I’ll be making more design changes for the next release! Most of the big / basic features are finished but a few are still not finished (eg. Move / Copy Folders and Files). The documentation is still sparce but that’s because I’ve been putting all my free time into finishing up this release. I’ve also started to implement localization for FilePress! Currently there is only English, but I will be adding rough translations for some other languages. The next release most likely wont be for quite awhile because of my lack of free time, but I’m planning on keeping up development for FilePress. This is from the readme.txt file in the Change Log section for 1.0 Beta:

As my last post lets in, I’m working for Pomeroy IT Solutions and starting on the 19th of Dec lasting about 2-3 weeks I’ll be extremely busy and out of touch. So to prepare for this up coming event, I’m trying to deliver a very pleasent x-mas present. As you probably know, I’ve been working on updating my LMB^Box FilePress plugin. I won’t be able to finish everything that I would like to , but most features will be there and fully functional! This is great news for everyone that has been waiting for the next release. Now this next release will still be a beta version but hopefully it will hold out until I’m able to complete the last features that needed to be added. Also this next release will be a major code rewrite, so this will also be the testing grounds of the new code base.

I’m also debating on changing the name of the plugin as the plugin has now become WordPress in-dependent … what does this mean … the new code base (which I’ll reference to as “the Script”), is designed and written to run as a stand-alone script that you host on your server and use for file management of your base folder. The Script has an easy to plug-in code that can be used in different PHP scripts out there. Once a stable and feature full version is released, I’ll begin creating plugins for other PHP script systems (eg. Joomla, pMachine, PHP-Nuke, etc.).

Currently, as far as I know, LMB^Box FilePress is WordPress 2.0 compatible using the Failsafe Button feature to add the needed button link. Before releasing this beta version, I’ll test LMB^Box FilePress for WP 2.0 compatiblity again. Right now what I’ll need from everyone who wishes to see this happen is your support. Once the next beta version is released, I’ll need to get as much feedback as I can … on the current features, what you would like to see added in, on bugs / issues / problems, etc. Of course support in ythe form of donations are alwas welcomed and appreciated, they would go to the cost of hosting and my time in order to work on the Script. Finially as I stated above, I would like to change the name of the Script to something more suiting. The Script doesn’t just Publish File Links anymore (File-Press), it allows file management too! If you have any suggestions as to what you think the new name should be, please comment about them here! Also if there are any questions, comments, or other suggestions, feel free to comment here also! One step closer … don’t you say ….

More recently I’ve started working some part-time contract jobs for Pomeroy IT Solutions. I’ve done two jobs for them, one on Wed. Nov. 30th and Thur. Dec. 1st of this past week. It’s a pretty good deal for the time being. Currently I’m looking for a full-time job that will be in New York, NY and hopefully after the new year I’ll find a decent one. The contract work is a good thing since it’ll bring in more than I have been, and hopefully it will allow me to be able to take my CCNA again.

Yesturday and today I’ve been setting up my 2 pcs, reinstalling and reconfiguring both so that I can use my Custom Built system again. As I was looking for updates and checking everything out, I decided to take a first look at WordPress 1.6/2.0 so I downloaded it and quick set it up on my local server. I’m liking it very much! Very nice new features and redesign! And taking about new designs, I also got Firefox 1.5 and installed it. WOW! Very nice! All this is just frying my brain!

Lastly comes some info on my plugin LMB^Box FilePress. For the past week, I really haven’t gotten much done since I started the contracting with Pomeroy IT Solutions. Before that I was stuck working on an upload progress bar/monitor for the plugin and I’m also done. I’ve been re-thinking about that though … I’ve found a flash uploader / progress monitor that would look great. But I wanted to have the user have a choice of either full XHTML or Flash interface, plus I still haven’t done the Flash interface that I would like to do … it’s was to be done in the next release after this one. So there are a few more things to take care of, but I’m hoping to finish and release this version before Xmas / New Year.

That’s about it for right now, so until later …
