WP Smileys 2.0!

I have just about finished adding the new features that Aidan had given the ideas for as listed here. This is a MAJOR release of WP Smileys Plugin for WordPress. This release adds many new features and security to the orginal plugin. In this release, the most notiable change is the new options page. Here you will be able to set if comments can use smileys, if to use the WP Comment Quicktags Plus Plugin’s quicktags toolbar to add a Smileys Button, which smileys that will be allowed for the Admin Write Pages and allowed in posts, and finally which smileys that will be allowed for the Comment Form and allowed in comments. Also there is an added security to what smileys will be processed and displayed in posts or comments depending on which smiley lists are enabled.

What’s Next?
Well the code for the next release has already been put in place, the only thing that I need to do is add a Manage Smileys Management Page that will allow the user(s) to add, edit, customize, and remove all of the smileys that can be used. I will also add to the WP Smileys Option Page an option for the min. user level so that only certain users can control the settings of WP Smileys.

Would Be Nice …
It would be neat to be able to allow some type of access control to the settings so that users could create their own smileys list to use and display, somewhat like that WP uses to control the posts, categories, and settings for users. That would be alot of work and code, but maybe possible … right now I’m not going to worry about working on that. My main concern is to another plugin that I’m working on, the File Press Plugin.

So here is all the good stuff …

You may download the new plugin below:

Lovelee, just like any other plugin, you need to extract the zip and upload the folder to your wp-content/plugins/ folder. Thanks.

Now Mike, I just posted my new release of version 2.1! The name has changed to LMB^Box Smileys (to take after my site) and it has all of the features that I’ve been working on. It now has a management page to add, edit, manage and remove Smileys Lists. And also allows you to disable certain smileys from being used from a list! There are a few more ideas as what I should have some of these new features do better, and I’ll be working on them. But until then, please enjoy all that LMB^Box Smileys can offer! :thumbup_tb: :clap_tb: :smoke_tb:

i appreciate the effort you’ve put into this, it’s good stuff. as far as the oopses that’s actually a good thing in a way cause it forces my lazy butt to figure things out for myself. who knows, maybe someday i’ll get the motivation to actually learn how to write a plugin myself.

damn i love me the smileys!

Sorry that I havn’t posted a reply sooner, in fact I tried to post a reply and just at that moment, for some reason, my databases where gone! I guess my web-host was updating the MySQL. Anyway …

From what you commented on the first time, I had no idea as to what was going wrong. I was going to ask you to install the pugins so that I could see them working on your site and see what was going wrong, but that’s ok now.

At first glance I had no idea what you where talking about, but when Mike posted his last comment, it just kicked in (Thanks Mike).

I’m sorry guys about that, :wallbash_tb: I guess I was in a rush and just wasn’t thinking about the file structure of the archive. I’ve now fixed that along with all of the past versions of the plugin so that it extracts right. Plus, on a great note:exclaim_ee: I have completed the final features that I wanted to add at this time :clap_tb:, and I’ll be making a post for it. It’s version 2.1 and I’m changing the names of my Comment Quicktags and Smileys Plugins to LMB^Box Comment Quicktags and LMB^Box Smileys! To get more info and the plugins go to my :arrow_wp: Plugin Page!

The plug-in doesn’t work correct because you gave the directories wrong names. Could you fix this please? Or tell me how I can fix this?

    Thanx in advance!
